Since 1991, Flag Football California (formally FastAction Sports) has been the only nationwide league and tournament organization dedicated to the sport of 4-on-4 Non-Contact Flag Football. Through the years Flag Football California has included different "flavors" of the sport with specific leagues and tournaments featuring 7-on-7 “Co-Ed” and 7-on-7 "Blocking” and 8-on-8 “Co-Ed” due to player demand at the time, all the while maintaining it core 4-on-4 events. Flag Football California offers year round play, competitive divisions for all abilities, professionally trained referees, a certified sports trainer onsite at most events, an awesome annual National Championship Tournament in Las Vegas, plus awards for all top teams and players at all events. All this while providing the best personal service in the business with over 25 years of experience.
Flag Football California is dedicated to the proposition that all Players deserve an equally excellent Recreational Sports experience, no matter what their age or ability. To that end, we at Flag Football California will always strive to go the extra mile, do the extra job, give the extra inch to see to it that our players get absolutely the best game anyone can have anywhere.
In October of 1991, NFL Properties and Terry Murphy (former president of Streetball Partners, Inc.) asked Chuck Price/FastAction Sports to help them create a flag football event for the NFL similar to what Hoop-It-Up was to the NBA. Two months later, FastAction Sports ran the first 4-on-4 flag football tournament ever, staging two events simultaneously in Mission Viejo, CA and the San Fernando Valley (The “NFL Draw Play”). The following year, the event was named “Air-It-Out” and was held in 10 cities featuring a championship game between the tournament winner and a team of NFL players broadcast nationwide on the ABC network.
Although FastAction has managed and/or consulted for the Los Angeles stop on the tour ever since, the majority of FastAction’s effort went into starting the first independent flag football league program to run nationwide, and in 1993 started FastAction Football in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California. In 1995, FastAction began holding an annual National Championship Tournament of its own in Las Vegas, while at the same time, becoming the organizer of the QUICKSTRIKE National 4-Man Tournament Series.
In addition to 4-on-4, 7-on-7 and 8-on-8 flag football, FastAction Sports has also managed events for Pac 10 Properties, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Avengers, as well as, serves as the Director of Game Operations for the CaliFlorida Bowl High School All-Star Game, featuring the best prep football players from California vs. their counterparts from Florida.
Over the years FastAction Sports in Florida and Texas were eventually converted into their own local organizations with players still participating in FastAction’s yearly National event in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, leagues and tournaments under the FastAction brand have still continued in Arizona and California year round.
In 2013 FastAction Sports in California made the strategic decision to “re-brand” its image as Flag Football California in efforts to breathe new light into the company in today’s digital world.
